A-Z voice termination is a wholesale arrangement where one SIP trunk and one contract let you terminate voice calls to every destination in the world. The "A" and "Z" refer to Afghanistan (+93) and Zimbabwe (+263) - in other words, the full alphabet of countries, A to Z.
How A-Z termination is priced
There is no flat bundle. Each country, and often each prefix within a country, is priced separately per minute on a rate deck that the carrier refreshes regularly. You top up or run on terms, send traffic, and are billed per destination. A good provider refreshes the rate sheet weekly and gives notice before any increase, with CDR access so you can reconcile every minute.
The route grades inside an A-Z deck
One A-Z deck mixes several grades, chosen per destination:
- CLI routes pass the caller's number through, so answer rates (ASR) stay high. They cost more but are essential for retail, enterprise and call-centre traffic.
- Non-CLI routes strip caller ID and cost less - fine for price-sensitive wholesale where the displayed number does not matter.
- CC routes are tuned for the dialling patterns of contact centres, with stable PDD.
What to check before you buy
Ask whether the routes are direct or aggregated for your destinations, how CLI pass-through is verified, and be wary of grey routes - unusually cheap rates that disguise traffic to avoid termination fees are unstable and a regulatory risk. Always ask for ASR, ACD and PDD by destination, and test on a free test trunk before you move production volume.
